Quitting timeFriday, November 11, 2016
Tobacco use, including smoking cigarettes, remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. If there is a time to be a quitter and win, it’s on Thursday, November 17th during the Great American Smokeout.
The American Cancer Society promotes the annual event on the third Thursday of November in an effort to encourage people to quit smoking. Although the health benefits are greater for people who stop at earlier ages, there are benefits at any age including improved circulation, lower blood pressure and reduced risk of heart disease.
If you are a smoker, there are numerous resources are available on-line including www.ucanquit2.org, www.smokefree.gov and www.cancer.org or call 1-800-QUIT-NOW for support in quitting.
All TVH America locations will be recognizing the Great American Smokeout holiday. A variety of educational classes including a hypnotist, an acupuncturist, wellness sessions with support groups and options provided by our on-site Healthstat clinic will be available.
“We like to provide options for our employees to improve their quality of life. Encouraging a tobacco free environment fits within our Wellness Workplace Environment,” CEO Els Thermote said.
